Healing doesn’t always feel like progress

Healing is a complicated process, and it rarely follows a straight, upward trajectory. Sometimes, it feels like nothing is changing, or worse, like you are moving backwards. Old wounds resurface, emotions you thought you had dealt with come back, and some days feel heavier than before. But progress in healing isn’t always about feeling better, it’s about facing what needs to be faced, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s about learning to sit with your pain instead of running from it. It’s about breaking patterns that once felt safe but were actually harmful. And that kind of work is exhausting. Growth often feels like loss. You lose old versions of yourself, familiar habits, and even relationships that no longer serve you. But just because it doesn’t feel like progress doesn’t mean it isn’t. Healing is happening, even in the moments when it feels like nothing is.
